Job Search Weary?

You are job hunting.  You have been looking for a new role for a few months now.

Maybe you have some savings?  Maybe you are running out of funds and getting worried?  How do you feel every morning when you switch the PC on and log into your job alerts?  How did you feel when you first started? Are you still motivated or are doubts starting to creep in?

We live in a world where everyone is so busy.

Companies are scanning CV's with computers.

Line managers barely get 30 seconds to scan the first page of a CV.

Recruiters are often dismissive if all the boxes their clients have stipulated are not ticked.

It is tough going up against all of this and it can very quickly become a overwhelming and lonely place.

I want to help you.  I have over 20 years in Careers and Recruitment, supporting people into work.  I also know exactly what it is like to feel the above and feel that there is no-one there to talk to or cheer me on!

Career coaching can help you stay on track with your job hunt.  Help you to re- focus if need be and keep going! Returning to work can be stressful enough and that is why I aim to keep my prices as low as I feasibly can.

A few top takeaways for now;

  • Take a break.  Don't sit in front of the PC all day, every day, trawling job sites.  Get some fresh air if you can.  Go for a walk or a coffee.  Ring a friend for a chat.
  • Learn how to set up job alerts accurately, so that relevant jobs are posted to you.
  • Get a quality profile on LinkedIn and start joining groups and discussions relevant to the jobs and career you are interested in.
  • Research what skills you might be lacking.  Look at job descriptions relating to the jobs you would like and see where you might benefit from gaining experience or new skills to fill the gaps.
  • Take each day as it comes-not as easy as it sounds but essential to your sanity!
  • Don't take recruitment consultants personally.  In my experience there are some agencies better than others.  Some consultants much better than others.  Choose carefully.  Some are totally commission focused with a bit of candidate interest thrown in and a misplaced comment can sometimes really hurt our motivation.  Choose carefully.
